The Standards

The idea of Catered4 the kids is a simple one; to set the standards of quality healthier dining out for your family. The guidelines and standards have been set to help take out the guesswork when you are looking for somewhere to eat.

The Catered4 the kids Campaign has been planned to ensure that the highest standards are met and a level of service and atmosphere awaits you and your children.

These standards are monitored by  mystery customer visits, plus a detailed questionnaire and regular supplier checks to ensure consistency is achieved.

With the smoking ban now firmly in place, pubs are starting to realise that famillies are heading back to the pub for somewhere great to eat. With your help we can reassure Licensees that your children will respect where they are for the enjoyment of all customers.

The standards for the childrens menu;

  • All Pork and poultry must be either Organic, Traditional Free Range, Red Tractor Free Range or British Free Range. #
  • Sausages must be made with at least 70% Free Range meat.
  • Burgers must be either homemade or contain at least 80% meat.
  • All other meat recipes must be made with prime cuts of meat.
  • All main meals will offer a choice of 2 vegetables and deserts will include fresh fruit. Ensuring that your children get at least 2 of the 5 they need for a balanced diet.
  • Only 20% of the main meals can be deep-fried. This will encourage your children to eat healthier cooked food.
  • No salt is added at any stage of cooking and table salt is low sodium.
  • All condiments and sauces have a lower sugar and salt content.
  • Their drinks range will include healthier  products including 100% fruit based drinks and water.
  • All dishes must offer a healthier cooked potato dish instead / as well as chips.
  • All staff will be trained to be fully aware of family needs in their workplace, ensuring great service.
  • Appropriate tableware must be available for children.

# Due to the supply shortages of Free Range Chicken we have extended the deadline. All businesses will have to have changed their Pork and Poultry purchased to meet this standard by April 1st 2009.

Enjoy your journey around the site and we hope to see you again and again. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
